VA Home Health Aide (HHA)

Specific tasks are approved for individual clients. These tasks can include, but are not limited to, the following; 

Approved hands-on care with the following, as outlined in the client's plan of care:  

• Bathing, shampooing, grooming, personal hygiene, and dressing;  
• Assisting going to and from the bathroom, assisting with bedpan or other toileting activities; 
• Meal preparation and assistance with eating; 
• Physical assistance with transferring the client in and out of bed, chair, or wheelchair, and helping the client walk with the support of a walker, cane, gait belt, braces, or crutches; 
• Physical assistance with positioning or turning a non-ambulatory client in a bed or chair; 
• Light housekeeping: changing bed linens and assisting with personal laundry;  
• Assistance with the application of elastic bandages and support hose; 
• Physical assistance with putting on and removing a prosthetic device; 
• Medication reminders only; 

Authority: 

Direct daily supervision is given by the client or the personal representative, as well as supervision from the Easterseals Director of PCA/VA Services. The Easterseals Alaska employee must follow the work agreement and plan of care, as well as report any changes in health or safety to the Director of PCA/VA Services. All Easterseals' employees are required by law to report abuse and neglect to the proper authorities. 

Work Conditions: 

• All approved services must be provided in the client’s home;
• Adverse Working Environment: May encounter occasional body fluids.

Director PCA/VA Services 

Pay Rate:

$23/hr.
